Artist's Statement

Story telling is a part of my work encouraged by my Irish grandmother’s love of storytelling and I have collected tales over the years which help me to make sense of the world.
My paintings are influenced by observations of my own children and by my experiences working as an art therapist with children, which gave me insight into children’s emotional growth and development. The characters in my pictures are on the threshold of emerging into adulthood.
