I trained and practiced as an architect.
My professional career enabled me to familiarise myself with various drawing and colouring methods in different media and creating artificial three dimensional images using perspective.
I used these skills to create artwork of an entirely different, more personal nature.
This resulted in three mixed media exhibitions in London.
When I retired from practice I moved to Spain where I enjoyed a new painting experience. The legendary light and particular colour range of Andalucia influenced my palette and approach.
I started to experiment with pastels and found them very rewarding. The rich colours offered the opportunity for subtle gradation and control which suited my style of working. For the last five or six years I have worked mostly in this medium and have not revised my enthusiasm for it.
I returned to England, Devon to an entirely different landscape and colour range. This change has been exciting and exhilarating. My efforts were rewarded when I was chosen to exhibit eight paintings in the North Devon Open Art Show in Barnstaple in 2014.
Painting abstract or semi abstract images allows me the freedom to experiment with line form and colour.
