Heatherbell took a degree in Fine Art and Education at Exeter. She was Head of Art at Commonweal School in Swindon during the 1980's and Senior Housemistress at Blundell's School from 1993-2008. It was there, being much involved in painting stage sets for the plays and musicals, she had her Eureka moment whilst painting the tropical backdrop to South Pacific: from that moment her driving ambition has been to pursue a career as a professional Artist.
Since 2009 she has launched several Solo Exhibitions of Landscapes and Seascapes, predominantly of Devon and Cornwall and these have brought in many new commissions, often of the Isles of Scilly which have been a favourite haunt for many years. Heatherbell's most recent work features the Lake District after a recent visit last summer. Painting in oils she works from photograghs and memory to recreate her stunning landscapes. She is currently working on the Sketch Book Project which will be on show at the Brooklyn Art Library in New York later this year.
