Christine Fulcher

Artist's Profile

Christine Ann Fulcher, place of birth Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.  I trained in Interior Architectural Design at Bradford College of Art and have worked on several restoration projects.  I moved to Geneva, Switzerland in 1983 and worked as a Graphic Designer/Artist until 2006 when I returned to the UK, moving to Devon, where I now happily live and work on my own projects.

Fulcher Biography
Fulcher is an inspired creator and an intoxicating force in the area of the exotica genre. In her work, Fulcher creates a tremendous impact on our conception of female spirituality and mysticism.
Born in the small village of Tadcaster, near York, England — Fulcher continues to have a deep attachment to this city and the Yorkshire dales, its history, its art, and its culture.
If one regards the works of Fulcher, one determines: the caught, easily comprehensible dreams.  They represent private lives, beautiful women, and vibrant flowers.  In the series of Geisha Nights, a celebration of the custom of the Geisha, Fulcher gives us inspired scenes of display and seduction.

Artist's Statement

It is important for me to feel the wind blowing. I reconnect with nature to be aware of the four elements essentially to fill my living being with this energizing life force and imagine myself on a mountaintop looking out over a vast ocean. I must expand my awareness of the universe so that I can be open to the creative force. I am inspired by the natural beauty of the world and the brilliance of past masters.

Fulcher portrait format and pricing
In general, I travel to the sitter; I like to see people in their own personal space where they are most comfortable. I start with discussions/chats from which an idea of the form of the painting develops and then follow with a photographic session to establish the setting. After one or two sittings I continue working in the studio with other sittings arranged as necessary. I like to work with the sitter towards a mutually shared aim which is not only of a likeness of themselves but also resulting in a unique object, a captivating work of art in its own right.
I am also able to complete the works entirely from photographic reference if the sitters schedule does not permit for sittings following the initial session.
Travel within the UK is included in the price of the commission and international travel is negotiated.
