Stella Levy

Stella has built a strong reputation in Devon for her organisational and promotional skills, organising art projects and events such as, Art Trek Open Studios and Art Bazaar. Also co-owner of White Moose, a contemporary arts space at Moose Hall, Trinity St, Barnstaple.

Artist's Statement


Currently, co-owner of White Moose, a contemporary fine art gallery based in Barnstaple, showcasing local, national and international artists and makers. www.whitemoose.co.uk


Co-ordination & Promotion - NDArt Trek 2014 - 2016 The Open Studios event now supported and organised under the umbrella of North Devon Arts.

Co-ordination & Promotion - Art Trek 2006 - 2013 Annual Open Studios event across North Devon. Organising over 100 artists and makers to open their homes, studios and workshops to the public. The event was supported by North Devon Theatres.

Projects over the years have included:

South Molton Sheep Fair Field - A three year photographic, writing, interviews and sound project undertaken with writer, Mary Stephenson.

Sheep in the Shops - Commissioning artists to work with the South Molton community to create 'sheep' to decorate shops, businesses etc. Held two years running. Part of North Devon Festival.

Community Tapestries - Commissioned to create designs for two large community tapestries, one for South Molton Assembly Rooms, the other for The Landmark Theatre, Ilfracombe. Workshops were held with both communities to help produce the public art tapestries, with each tapestry taking two years to complete.

Tapestry Kneeler Projects - Working with a variety of North Devon communities, encouraging people to design and produce their own kneelers for their local churches.


Trustee of the Barnstaple Buildings Preservation Trust. Formed to highlight Barnstaple's at risk historic buildings. Currently working on grade two listed Oliver Buildings (formerly the Shaplands Furniture making company), the grade two listed Catholic Church, Summerland St and the old Derby Lace Factory buildings.

A trustee of North Devon Theatres for nine years until October 2016.
