Penelope gained her degree in Fine Art at the Guilford School of Art, and a Post Graduate degree at Hornsey College of Art, London.
She has exhibited throughout the UK and in Japan in 1999. Penelope has taken part in three National Touring Exhibitions with the South West Textile Group: 'Explorations', 'Big Time' (Large Scale Textiles), 'Small Wonders' (Miniature Scale Textiles)
Penelope has had four solo Exhibitions. In 2007 at the Terrace Cafe, Devon Guild of Craftsmen, Bovey Tracey. In the year 2000, The Showcase Gallery, Bramley, Surrey. During the 1980s at the Burton Art Gallery, Bideford, North Devon and in the 1970s, The Irving Gallery, Bideford.
Mixed Media Artist - makes two and three dimensional textiles. Large and small works are undertaken; Panels, Hangings and various glazed works. A single textile can often include a mixture of painting, drawing and machine embroidery. She sometimes makes hand made felt from dyed fleece to form the background of her textile and then applies leathers, silks and cottons with machine embroidery to form a rich textural surface. Penelope's design source is mainly the coast and countryside of North Devon.
